| SESSION | 10 | Plenary: From Quality Management to Quality Intelligence: How Digitalization, Data, and AI Are Transforming Quality in Industry 4.0 | ISE | AHFE 10 |
| Day 1 Wed. July 22 |
Speaker: Roland Jochem, Germany | |||
| 9:00-10:30 (GMT+3) | Speech
Summary: Quality management is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven by digitalization, Industry 4.0, and data-centric technologies. Traditional quality methods, while mature and well established, increasingly reach their limits when confronted with highly complex, connected, and data-intensive products and production systems. This plenary talk explores the evolution from classical quality management toward Quality 4.0 and Quality Intelligence. The presentation outlines how digital technologies—such as advanced data analytics, cyber-physical systems, and AI-supported quality assistance systems—enable a shift from reactive quality control to predictive and prescriptive quality management. Central concepts including transparency, prevention, speed, and customer orientation are discussed as key enablers for modern quality systems.Drawing on industrial practice and applied research, the talk demonstrates how quality data can be transformed into actionable quality knowledge, how intelligent quality platforms support systematic problem solving, and how small and medium-sized enterprises can overcome typical barriers in their digital quality transformation. The session concludes with a strategic outlook on how quality management can actively shape digital transformation rather than merely respond to it. |
