Title:  "The Great AI Leap – Balancing Human Factors and Technology Adoption"

Speaker: Oliver Tian, Singapore

Vice Chair, International Alliance of Robotic Associations – IARA
Vice President, Global Robot Clusters
Director, Oliver Tian Associates

Synopsis: As AI transitions from laboratory curiosity to workplace reality, the critical challenge is no longer technical feasibility but human integration. This keynote moves beyond hype to examine real-world problem solving, where AI succeeds not by replacing humans, but by re-configuring our roles within dynamic, adaptive systems. We shall explore how frontline workers evolve from task executors to AI collaborators, continuously calibrating machine outputs against contextual nuance that algorithms cannot grasp. This shift demands a fundamental re-imagining of learning architectures. The industrial-era "just-in-case" education model, stockpiling knowledge against uncertain futures - sometimes known as the “Factory Logic Trap” - must yield first to "just-in-time" up-skilling, and ultimately to "just enough" learning model: precisely scoped, immediately applicable knowledge delivered at the moment of need. For managers, this necessitates a parallel transformation, from supervising standardized performance to accelerating outcomes by orchestrating human-AI teams, removing friction, and fostering psychological safety for experimentation. Drawing on implementations across various sectors, the presentation dissects how organizations succeed not by deploying the most advanced algorithms, but by designing adoption pathways that honor human rhythm, agency, and dignity. This conference held at Istanbul, a crossroads of civilizations, offers a fitting backdrop to argue that “the Great AI Leap” will be measured not in computational power, but in our capacity to redesign work, learning, and leadership around enduring human strengths.
Oliver_Tian Speaker Bio: Oliver Tian is a passionate AI visionary who believes in leveraging technology to augment human capabilities and extend our potential. With more than 35 years of IT consulting experience for Governments and Multinational Enterprises across the Asia Pacific region, he grounds his strength in business processes and advanced technologies. A firm believer in industry cross-pollination, he has successfully engaged with clients around optimizing the use of technology and human capital to meet business needs. A self-starter who believes in creating something out of nothing, he is also a fond believer of the important mission: To connect technology to human values. By providing innovative and cutting-edge technology solutions, as humans, we should aim to make a positive impact on the world. He believes that technology should be used to improve the human conditions, and we are committed to making that happen (PDF).

SESSION 10 Plenary: From Quality Management to Quality Intelligence: How Digitalization, Data, and AI Are Transforming Quality in Industry 4.0 ISE AHFE 10
Day 1
Wed. July 22

Speaker: Roland Jochem, Germany

9:00-10:30 (GMT+3)
Speech Summary:
Quality management is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven by digitalization, Industry 4.0, and data-centric technologies. Traditional quality methods, while mature and well established, increasingly reach their limits when confronted with highly complex, connected, and data-intensive products and production systems. This plenary talk explores the evolution from classical quality management toward Quality 4.0 and Quality Intelligence.
The presentation outlines how digital technologies—such as advanced data analytics, cyber-physical systems, and AI-supported quality assistance systems—enable a shift from reactive quality control to predictive and prescriptive quality management. Central concepts including transparency, prevention, speed, and customer orientation are discussed as key enablers for modern quality systems.Drawing on industrial practice and applied research, the talk demonstrates how quality data can be transformed into actionable quality knowledge, how intelligent quality platforms support systematic problem solving, and how small and medium-sized enterprises can overcome typical barriers in their digital quality transformation. The session concludes with a strategic outlook on how quality management can actively shape digital transformation rather than merely respond to it.
