Dr. Dylan Schmorrow is
a leader within Accelint, a company dedicated to advancing
artificial intelligence solutions for the defense sector. He
has been instrumental in driving innovations in AI that
automate complex tasks, enhance human-machine interactions,
and model human behavior, ensuring the U.S. Department of
Defense (DoD) remains at the forefront of military
technology. His work has supported the development of
advanced AI applications across domains such as
command-and-control systems, autonomous systems, medical
solutions, and human-machine interaction technologies. Dr.
Schmorrow’s distinguished career includes roles serving as
Chief Scientist, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and
President and CEO of Soar Technology, where he spearheaded
groundbreaking AI research and development initiatives.
Under his leadership, SoarTech became renowned as an
industry leader in AI for defense, delivering innovative and
practical solutions to address the complex challenges faced
by the DoD. Before his tenure at SoarTech, Dr. Schmorrow
served in the U.S. Navy, where he held pivotal
roles at DARPA, the Office of the Secretary of Defense
(OSD), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Naval
Research Laboratory (NRL), and Naval Warfare Centers. He was
also the Executive Secretary for the Defense Science Board's
Task Force on the Role of Autonomy in the DoD, where he
helped shape policies for integrating autonomous
technologies into military operations. In addition to his
operational and research contributions, he has been an
influential educator, teaching at the Naval Postgraduate
School and mentoring future defense leaders. He holds
advanced degrees in Modeling, Virtual Environments,
Simulation, Operations Research, Psychology, and Philosophy,
along with a Ph.D. in Psychology. His leadership extended
internationally through roles in NATO and The Technical
Cooperation Program (TTCP). Widely recognized as a thought
leader, Dr. Schmorrow’s transformative contributions to
national security and AI technology have set new benchmarks
for innovation. Dr. Schmorrow’s illustrious career is marked
by numerous awards, reflecting his exceptional contributions
to defense innovation, artificial intelligence, and national
security, as well as his dedication to education and
mentorship. Among his many accolades, he received the
Department of the Navy’s Top Scientists and Engineers of the
Year Award for his groundbreaking work on the DoD’s Infantry
Immersion Trainer. In 2007, he was honored with the
inaugural Leland S. Kollmorgen Spirit of Innovation Award
from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, recognizing
his pioneering advancements in human-machine systems. He
also earned the Society of U.S. Naval Flight Surgeons’ Sonny
Carter Memorial Award for his impactful contributions to the
health, safety, and welfare of military operational forces,
and the Association of Military Surgeons Innovation and
Research Award for his groundbreaking work in neuroscience
and team performance. His achievements have been further
recognized through multiple alumni awards from Western
Michigan University (WMU), including the 2020
Discovery-Driven Pillar Award from the College of Arts and
Sciences, and Alumni Achievement Awards in 2012 and 2020
from WMU’s Departments of Philosophy and Psychology,
respectively. He also received the Distinguished Alumni
Award from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), underscoring
his legacy as a thought leader and innovator dedicated to
